He and his brother Bartholomew received land in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, by their father's will, October 21, 1791. Deeds to this land are recorded in the court house at Bedford. This tract was surveyed in 1767 and contained 317 acres, and was purchased by Bartholomew in 1777.
