General Notes: Husband - William M. Sheakley
He left school permanently at the age of eighteen, after which, until his marriage, he devoted his sole time to the interests of his parents.
He served for many years as trustee of the Sheakleyville United Presbyterian Church, and later in the Presbyterian Church to which the family transferred their membership and which the labors of his wife especially sanctified to him. He also took a leading part in the advancement of the educational matters of the township, having served three terms as a member of its school board.
General Notes: Wife - Matilda Brown
She came to Sheakleyville, PA, with her brother, Rev. Cochran Brown, who had been ordained pastor of the United Presbyterian Church. It was thus that she met her future husband. She was both a charming and a noble woman-bright, kind, generous and a feminine ideal of unselfishness, thoughtfulness and true Christian devoutness. She was an active worker in the United Presbyterian Church, and her tender spirit and her many works of helpfulness and charity more than sustained the modest professions of her faith. When to the beauty and strength of her natural character were added the loving ministrations and complete devotion of a wife and mother, American womanhood was seen at its completest and best.
