General Notes: Husband - Adam Brown, Jr.
Cranberry Twp, Butler Co, PA
He was born within one mile of the big spring at Newville, in Cumberland County, PA. He was a small boy at the time the family removed to Butler County, and there he acquired a good education. The home property was all left under his care, and he also purchased and cleared the land on which his son Robert H. Brown later resided.
He was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, and grew to manhood on the homestead farm in Butler county. He was the second son of his father, and at his father's death he was appointed executor of the latter's estate. He received the homestead as his share of the estate, and lived upon it until 1833, when he purchased a mill and farm where his son Robert H. would later reside. The mill was an old frame structure, but he tore it down, and rebuilt a new frame mill, and added a saw mill, which he conducted until 1861. In that year he retired from active business and settled upon a farm he then owned, a farm which later became the property of Walter C. Boggs, in Forward township.
