General Notes: Husband - Robert H. Brown

He was reared on the homestead farm, and received his education in the district schools. He learned the milling business with his father, and purchased the mill and farm from the latter, which he conducted until 1880. In that year he bought a farm in Cran-berry township, resided on it until 1891, and then returned to his original homestead, where he engaged in farming and operating his flour and saw mill. In 1863 the old mill was destroyed by fire, but was rebuilt by himself; his farm contained some five producing oil wells, and was thus quite profitable. Politically, Mr. Brown was a Republican, and in religious faith, he was an adherent of the Methodist Episcopal church.
