The family moved from Straubstown (Freeburg), Pennsylvania, to Brush Valley, on a small farm near Rebersburg, in 1805; thence to Stark County, Ohio, in 1814. Most of his descendants lived in Summit and Stark counties, Ohio, and none remain in Centre or Snyder counties, Pennsylvania.
