General Notes: Husband - Thomas Burns

He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and served three years in the British army at the outset of the Revolutionary war. He then served four years under the noted Paul Jones and other American commanders. He purchased a homestead in Centre township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1790. After his settlement in that section, he chopped wood and burned coal.

There is said to have been an Indian village on the Burns homestead. Tradition reports that for several years, the natives would return to look for treasure said to have been buried there.
