General Notes: Husband - Arda Crawford Bowser

He attended the public schools at Millville, New Jersey, Crafton, Pittsburgh, and graduated from the Ford City high school June, 1917. After spending one term at Bethany College, West Virginia, he enlisted in the United States Navy Flying Corps and was sent to the training camp at Boston, Massachusetts. When the World War came to an end he was released from service (finally discharged in 1921) and entered the freshman class at Bucknell University. On his entrance at college he was placed on the Varsity football team and at once was given the position of fullback. In his sophomore year he was recognized by the majority of critics as the greatest fullback in the country. In the 1921 season he was captain of his team. He was chosen as the best fullback in the state and was also the choice of many writers for all-Eastern honors and was mentioned by Walter Camp as an all-American.
