General Notes: Husband - William Borland

He and his brothers were all born in Ireland, and all came with their parents to America. They settled in what is now Wayne township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, purchasing large tracts of land adjoining their father's place, having altogether about ten hundred and fifty acres. They followed farming.

He was a young man when he came from his native Ireland to America. He first settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he followed farming, and later removing to Armstrong County, bought about six hundred acres of land, for the most part covered by timber. He built a log house and made a permanent home there, devoting the remainder of his life to the improvement of his property. He was a man well known in the locality in his day, an Episcopalian in religious connection, and in politics a Republican during his later years.
