General Notes: Husband - W. S. Carr

He attended the Pleasant Grove school during the winter sessions until he was about eighteen years of age, after which his winters were mainly spent in the lumber regions, while he devoted his summers to farm work. As there was no necessity for him to leave the homestead he remained on it and after it came into his possession, at the death of his parents, did a large amount of improving. He cleared about one-third of the farm by himself and had it all under cultivation with the exception of ten acres in standing timber. The buildings erected by his father had become a little dilapidated but he repaired, rebuilt and otherwise improved them. Perhaps his farm was underlaid with a vein of coal but he had no open bank nor did he ever leased any land.
He and his family were members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
He was identified with the Republican party and frequently served in political positions, having been judge and inspector of elections and several times a delegate to the county conventions of his party. He was a member of the local Grange, of which he served as overseer, and he belonged to the Order of the Moose, at Curwensville, Pennsylvania.
