In 1816, the family removed to America, residing for two years in New York city. In 1818, they migrated to Laughlinstown, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and a few years later to the "Manor" settlement, in what is now Cherry Hill township, Indiana County.

Joseph Widdowson died in 1817, at the age of seventy-six. [HIC 1880, 493] But this seems unlikely. Perhaps 1867 or 1877 were meant?
