General Notes: Husband - Arthur Bell

He was reared in Greenwood township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and purchased 200 acres of land, the farm on which his son, John W. Bell, later resided. From time to time he made additional purchases, becoming owner of 1,600 acres. He was a prominent factor in the development of the lumber industry, and in 1843 erected a sawmill, manufacturing lumber on an extensive scale and rafting it down the river to market. He also followed farming and placed one hundred acres of land under a high state of cultivation.

General Notes: Wife - Catherine Hazlett
