Obituary:
Samuel Newton Bell.
Samuel Newton Bell, was born to George and Elizabeth (Say) Bell, deceased, on April 21, 1851, on the old Bell homestead near here where he has ever since resided. Seven years ago, Mr. Bell suffered a stroke of paralysis. Since then his left side had been practically helpless. Other serious complications speedilly developed and Mr. Bell suffered greatly throughout the seven years, submitting patiently to his Master's will but looking forward to the time when he might be released from physical weakness and suffering.
The higher summons came at 9 a. m. January 16. Mr. Bell was married to Lucy Welsh, of Whitestown, Butler county, March 29, 1877, who survives and who deserves mention for the constant care she gave him throughout his years of suffering. To this union where born six sons and one daughter. All are living and were present for the obsequies. They are Earl, Franklin; Arthur, Wilkinsburg; Loy, Akron, O.; James, Cochranton; Harry, Youngstown, O.; Mrs. C. M. (Vinnie) Bolles, Pinoak, Lyle, at home. A sister, Mrs. Paul Ferringer, Cranberry, two brothers-David Bell, Salina; Meeker Bell, Seneca.
For many years Mr. Bell has been a member of the Presbyterian church and held the office of deacon. He served Richland township on different occasions as school director and as road supervisor. Services in his memory were conducted in the home at 2 p. m. January 18, by his pastor, Rev. Alexandria Marlowe who used the text psalms 16:11. There was no music. The pall was born by Newton Berlin, Melvin Jones, Howard Beels, Frank Shaner, Jerry Linn, Ivy Brinker. Interment in this cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Welch Bell died, Saturday morning, January 31, at 5:00 o'clock, following a short illness from pneumonia. She was the wife of the late Samuel Newton Bell, who preceded her in death three years ago. Mrs. Bell was born in Butler county 76 years ago Christmas Day, but all of her married life was spent on the farm near Nickleville, where she died. She is survived by the following sons: Arthur, of McKees Rocks; Earl, of Franklin; James of Cochranton; Harry, of Youngstown, O.; Loy, who is spending the winter in California, and Lyle, on the home farm; also one daugher, Mrs. Vinnie Boals, of Pin Oak. The daughter and one son, Loy, were unable to be present for the funeral, though Mrs. Boals was here during her mother's illness. Funeral services in her memory were conducted in the home by her pastor, Rev. Kehrli, on Monday afternoon, followed by interment in the Bell lot in the Nickleville cemetery. The pall was bore by S. C. Cornell, J. M. Lynn, N. J. Berlin, J. M. Nickle, M. G. McDonald and J. R. Kelley. The floral offerings were beautiful, among them an orchid piece from the Atlantic Refining Company, where the son, Harry, is employed; a beautiful calla lily piece from the Eclipse, where the son, Earl, has been employed for several years, and a carnation spray from the little Sunshine Circle of the Presbyterian church here, of which Mrs. Bell was a member.
