General Notes: Husband - Squire Samuel Bell
He resided at the McKee mill, and managed it for five years.
He and his family came from Westmoreland County about 1800, and located on the tract in Rayne township, Indiana County. Here he purchased five hundred acres. He served as justice of the peace for over twenty years.
He was "squire" for over thirty years and surveyor for the Holland Land Company of Philadelphia. He moved from Sewickley, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to six or seven miles southwest of Greensburg, thence to near Saltsburg, where he lived until his removal to McKees Mill in 1807. From there in 1814 he moved to Chambersville, where he bought a large tract of land known as "the Steward's lands," belonging to some English heirs, sold at commissioners' sale for taxes, for $17.53, in 1811.
