General Notes: Husband - John Weaver, Sr.

He and his wife were natives of Pennsylvania, he born in Easton, and she in Chester County. They were married in Buffalo Valley, and after one or two removals they located in Union County, where he bought a small tract of land, and in connection with its cultivation also worked at the tailor's trade. In 1827 he came to Clearfield County, locating on the river near McGee's Mills, where he improved a farm in the midst of the forest, and gave his exclusive attention to agriculture until becoming blind, when he and his wife left the farm and spent their remaining days with their son, James H. Weaver. Some of the timber from his land he rafted down the river to market. They were devout members of the Methodist Protestant Church. [CBRCP-CCJC, 603]

When fourteen years of age he started to learn the tailoring trade at Milton, Pennsylvania.
He located in Bell township, Westmoreland County, in 1826.
In 1827 he moved into Clearfield County which was largely a wilderness at that time.
