General Notes: Husband - Daniel Beck

---

He was a soldier in the War of 1812, from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

He emigrated with two other men, named respectively Klingensmith and Black, from the Greensburg settlement. Klingensmith took up land near what is now White Rock, Black settled near where Maysville of Long Run now stands, and Daniel Beck made his home on the farm now owned and occupied by Emmet Beck about three miles south of what is now Cochran's Mills. Mr. Beck's first care, after erecting a log cabin, was to plant orchards and gardens. He was a large powerful man, a veteran in the Indian troubles on the frontier for half a century, and also served in the Mexican war.

Her parents were early settlers of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

She was of small stature and delicate appearance, but seldom suffered from illness. She was a constant reader of her German Bible, always reading aloud and very distinctly.
