General Notes: Husband - [Ancestor] Trego

The Trago family is an old and honorable one and we find frequent mention of it in English records, in its older form of Trego. Its members belonged to the much persecuted sect of Quakers, and it was owing to religious oppression that they came from their native land to the New World. Two of the old Tregos, William and John, both of whom were sea captains, fitted out two ships in 1639, and with a company of about one hundred of their co-religionists sailed for America and landed at Keats Island, Maryland, on the fifth of March in that year. It was doubtless they who founded the large Trego family of Maryland as well as the various branches which we find in Pennsylvania.

Peter Trego was a son of Captain William Trego. 2
