Marion, Indiana Co, PA

He was a student at Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania. He read medicine under Dr. George B. Engles, of Stormstown, and graduated at Jefferson Medical College, of Philadelphia, in 1843. After a practice with his preceptor, he located, in 1845, in Marion, Pennsylvania. He served as associate judge of Indiana County two terms of five years each, viz : 1856 to 1861, and 1861 to 1866. During the last two years of his second term, he practiced his profession in Indiana. He was a member of the lower house of the legislature for two terms, viz : the sessions of 1875 and 1876. He was a congressional delegate to the republican convention that nominated Grant and Wilson. He served as trustee of the Normal school on the part of the state from 1875 to 1878.
