General Notes: Husband - John B. Tarr
His father was an emigrant to America from Germany before 1760, came to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, from near Ellicott's Mills, Maryland, and settled where Henry W. Stoner would later reside. In that part of the township he purchased several hundred acres of land.
His father emigrated from Germany prior to the year 1760. He located near Ellicott's Mills, Howard County, Maryland, where he reared a family of children.
He migrated, about 1794, to near Stonerville, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he was one of the very earliest settlers, taking “tomahawk possession” of one hundred acres of land, on which he lived until his death. He was a potter by trade, and by industry and close application, to his work was enabled to provide a comfortable home for his family, which consisted of ten children. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
The list of his sons in HAC 1914 includes Peter and excludes Frederick. The list in HWC 1906 III is opposite. BHCWC, 705 excludes Peter.
