General Notes: Husband - Thomas Frazier Stevenson
He received his education in the public schools, graduating from Pittsburgh High School when he was seventeen years of age. Upon the completion of his school training he became associated with the United States Glass Company, and his connection with that concern continued to the time of his retirement in 1912, a period of more than thirty-four years. During that time he served in various capacities, including that of purchasing agent. Ill health made necessary his retirement in 1912. He had always been an extensive traveler, both in America and abroad, during his vacation periods, and after his retirement he took an extended trip in Europe, hoping that new scenes and interests would restore his failing strength.
In addition to his activities in connection with the United States Glass Company, Mr. Stevenson was also a member of the board of directors of the Manufacturers' Bank, and after his death, at the meeting of directors held on May 8, 1923, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted as an expression of the esteem in which he was held by his colleagues:
Whereas-Mr, Thomas F. Stevenson has served for twelve years as a Director of the Manufacturers' Bank, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, holding this position at the time of his death, and
Whereas-he has proven himself an able and conscientious advisor and has endeared himself personally to each of his fellow members
Therefore be it resolved, That in the death of Thomas F. Stevenson, the bank has lost a good Director and the Board of Directors a valued colleague, a true and staunch friend and a man of real character, and
Be it further resolved, that in paying this slight tribute to his memory, we likewise express our heartfelt sympathy to his family in their bereavement, and
Be it further resolved, that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that a copy thereof be sent to the family of our deceased fellow member.
Yours sincerely,
I. C. RUDOLPH
Cashier.
A man of fine intellect, Mr. Stevenson, was a close student, widely read and possessed of a vast fund of information which he used to good purpose. He was a member of the Duquesne Club, and in earlier years he was a tennis enthusiast. His religious affiliation was with Shadyside Presbyterian Church, to which he contributed liberally both of his means and of individual interest and service. He was also a liberal supporter of Kingsley House. Through his maternal ancestors, James McKee, Jr., and Hugh McKee, Mr. Stevenson held membership in the Sons of the American Revolution.
