General Notes: Husband - Isaac Vanvoorhis
Greene Co, PA - a farmer and drover
He was reared on the family farm in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the district school. During his early life he remained with his parents on the farm, where he commenced dealing in stock and thereafter spent most of his time in that business. He bought large lots of cattle in the Chicago markets, shipped them to Greene County for pasture and sold numbers of them to the citizens of the county. He met with great financial success in the stock business, and also owned one of the most valuable farms in Greene County. It consisted of about 500 acres of land, on which were good buildings and improvements.
He was a Republican in politics, and served on the school board of his township.
