Greene Co, PA
He was the second child in his parents' family, and was reared on the home farm, where he attended the common schools. He was a farmer most of his life, and resided in Greene County, Pennsylvania beginning in 1838. He met with marked success in his business. His farm consisted of 170 acres of good land, after he had given 400 acres to his children.
He and his wife were members of the Baptist Church, in which he served as deacon for a number of years. He took an active interest in the educational affairs of his township, and was a member of the school board.
