General Notes: Husband - Moses E. Porter
He was brought up on a farm at Porter's Gap, in Upper Tyrone township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, attended the common schools of that district until he attained his majority. At the age of twenty-two he went to Moingona, Boone County, Iowa, where he served an apprenticeship of three years in a drug house. In 1880 he returned to Pennsylvania and opened a drug store at Dawson, where he succeeded in building up a good trade.
He was a member of the Senior Order of American Mechanics.
