General Notes: Husband - William Henry Harrison Riddle
After beginning his education in the public schools, he attended successively the academies at Sunbury and Harrisville, Pennsylvania. He then pursued the study of law under the direction of Col. John M. Thompson, and was admitted to the bar in 1864. In the following year he was elected district attorney, in which office he served with credit. He thereafter continued in the practice of his profession and built up a profitable clientage. At times he took part in public affairs, and in 1884 was a delegate to the Republican National Convention at Chicago, which nominated Blaine and Logan. He took a strong interest in agriculture and did much in a practical way for its scientific development in this country. He was one of the founders of the Butler Agricultural Association. All the Farmers' Institutes that have been held in Butler County, un-der the supervision of the State Board of Agriculture, and later under the Depart-ment of Agriculture before 1909, were managed by him. He was long a helpful member of the State Agricultural Society.
He was educated at the public schools of Butler County, Pennsylvania, and acquired his academic course at Harrisville. He studied law in the office of Col. Thompson, and was admitted to the bar in 1864; he was elected District Attorney in the fall of 1865, filling the office three years. He had one of the best-selected libraries in the town. He also took great delight in the cultivation of flowers.
