General Notes: Husband - Rev. Joseph Weaver
He was born June 18. [WFT, 174]
The founder of the Van Free Methodist Church was Joseph Weaver, who had been converted in the pioneer days of the Evangelical Church and became a minister traveling successfully through the Clarion, Jefferson, Sugarcreek and other circuits. He was born in Penn Valley, but moved to Venango County at the age of 12, and remained there until his death.
When the Free Methodists first came to Oil City, he began to attend their meetings and soon united with them. He brought them home and let them hold meetings in his barn and grove, and in the school during 1875-76. Since the church was started by the Weavers and built on the Weaver property, it was called the Weaver Free Methodist Church, and later named "Eagle's Nest". (from "In Remembrance" by Helen Myers Ray)
He may have been married to a woman named Eleanor before his marriage to Sarah Myers.
