General Notes: Husband - Henry Prather
He was of English descent; emigrated from the eastern part of Pennsylvania, and settled in what is now Cherrytree Township, Venango County, on a tract of land which contained about four hundred and fifty acres. He made the settlement in about the year 1799. He worked at blacksmithing, and built the first shop of the kind in the township. He manufactured axes, bells, and engaged in general blacksmithing. He served in the war of 1812 at Erie, PA. He and his wife reared a family of ten children.
The Prathers and the Ricketts had lived near each other in Huntingdon County, PA, before moving to Venango County.
General Notes: Wife - Lydia Ricketts
She married Samuel Hogg, her second husband, when she was of quite mature age - and he was about thirty years old. The family did not like it and believed he had married her for her money. He inherited the family farm when she died.
