General Notes: Husband - Andrew Pentz
His father purchased 300 acres of land in Brady township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, for his sons. In 1837 he and his brothers, Jacob and John, and their father, came to Clearfield County to clear and improve their land.
He was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and with his wife and two children, moved to the new home in the wilderness of Clearfield County.
Previous to him and his two brothers coming to Clearfield County their father had purchased an extensive tract of land for them. He began life there in true pioneer fashion, clearing a farm for himself, his first buildings being a log house and barn. These were later replaced by a comfortable two-story frame house and a bank barn.
Politically, he was a Republican, and prior to the organization of that party he was an Old-line Whig. While he always took an active part in local affairs he never aspired to office. He was a Protestant in religion, a Seventh Day Adventist, and he always observed the Sabbath Day faithfully.
