General Notes: Husband - William Bare
At the time of his death he owned three fine farms and had considerable money besides. He bequeathed various sums to relatives and to three different churches, and to cemeteries; in all about ten thousand dollars, and the residue to his wife. She, at the time of her death, was worth $35,000.00 or $40,000.00. They lived and dressed very plainly but set an excellent table, and were very hospitable and kind.
The following information was obtained from C. H. Mills, Grove City, Ohio:
"William Bare committed suicide on Good Friday, 1897. He was a very large man; weighed 365 pounds, and was 5 feet around the waist. Was 6 ft. 2 in. tall and increasing in weight. He visited us about six months before he shot himself, and I never saw a more jolly and good-natured man than he was. He was worth about $60,000.00 when he died and left the bulk of it to a boy he had raised."
General Notes: Wife - Almira Thompson
She probably had a birth-right membership in the Society of Friends (Quakers) at the time of her marriage.
