General Notes: Husband - Capt. George Meek


He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. A few years thereafter he settled in what is now Ferguson township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, and raised a large family. He was the companion of James Harris in his early surveying expeditions.

The family of George Meek lived near Lewistown, (now Mifflin county,) Pennsylvania, in 1780, and he came into Centre County with James Harris on a surveying expedition in 1784. On the 21st of January, 1790, he took up a tract of land in Ferguson township.
