General Notes: Husband - William W. McQuown

---

He was reared in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and after completing his education took up lumbering in Clearfield County. In 1885 he was elected justice of the peace on the Republican ticket, an office which he held for twenty years, and in 1907 he was appointed postmaster at Mahaffey. He also acted in the capacity of clerk of the council for nine years, city auditor and member of the school board. For some years he was engaged in the real estate and insurance business, under the firm name of W. W. McQuown & Son. Fraternally he was connected with Mahaffey Lodge No. 147, Knights of Pythias, and Clearfield Lodge No. 540, of the Elks.
