General Notes: Husband - William McQuown
He settled in Grant township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1862.
Most of his family settled in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
He was a native of Indiana County, Pennsylvania, whence at the age of thirty-six years he enlisted in a Pennsylvania regiment for service during the Civil War, three months of his service being spent as a prisoner in a Southern prison. Upon receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Indiana County, but several years later went with his family to a neighboring county, purchased a farm, and there spent the remainder of his life.
General Notes: Wife - Margaret Shields
Her father was Colonel Shields, who held that rank during the War of 1812, and later became one of the leading farmers and lumbermen in Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
She died when seventy-two years old.
