General Notes: Husband - Andrew Walker
But four months old when brought by his parents to this country, he was reared among pioneer scenes. Public institutions of learning had not then been established, and he attended a private school, located quite a distance from his home, each Monday morning taking along with him enough food to last him a week, and lodging with the teacher. After marriage, he bought land in Lackawannock township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. It was a heavily timbered tract of land, and before long he felled the giant trees to make room on which he might erect a log cabin to shelter himself and family. While this was in process of construction, he made a shelter for his household by placing long strips of chestnut bark against a large log. In the cabin, which he built of round logs, his children were born, and there he resided until his death, in the eighty-fifth year of his age.
