General Notes: Husband - William McCollum

He was reared from four years of age on the family farm in East Franklin township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He attended the early common schools of the township, and then engaged in farming. He came to own one hundred and fifty acres of the home farm, to which he added forty-eight acres additional by purchase. His farm was well-improved and well-watered, and he raised good crops of grain and some very good stock. He was a member of Limestone Evangelical Lutheran church. He was a stanch democrat, but was of rather a retiring disposition, had no thirst for office or political position, but served his township as assessor for one term, and as a member of the school board for several terms.
