General Notes: Husband - William McKean
He was a native of eastern Pennsylvania. His father came from the East and purchased a large tract of land for three sons, William, Thomas and Robert. He crossed the Allegheny mountains and purchased a large tract of land in what is now Allegheny township, Westmoreland County. On his farm stood one of the old block-houses which were erected to defend the Westmoreland frontier from Indian invasions. He was a cousin of Gov. Thomas McKean of Pennsylvania. [BHCWC, 731]
He was a native of Ireland, who migrated to the United States and was one of the original settlers of Allegheny township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was a prosperous farmer in his day, owning one hundred and forty acres of land.
