General Notes: Husband - John M. McCandless
He resided on part of the original family homestead in Centre Township, Butler County, PA, in 1883. The barn on his farm, erected in 1828, was the first frame building in Centre Township. He was a Justice of the Peace ten years.
He was born in Centre township, Butler county, PA, on the farm settled and cleared by his father. He attended the subscription schools of pioneer days, and became by self-application a very well educated man, and filled most of the township offices, being justice of the peace ten years, and also jury commissioner. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
