HOWARD T. B. LUSHER WINS COMMISSION
Howard T. B. Lusher, an Akron boy, was a member of the class in the officers' training school at Camp Gordon, Ga., which was graduated on August 26. He received the commission of second lieutenant. Lieutenant Lusher enlisted with the Cleveland engineers in July, 1917, and in June, 1918, entered the officers' training school at Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Ala., which was later transferred to Camp Gordon. Lieutenant Lusher was the guest of his sister, Mrs. Roy Reeser, 108 Lake st., two days last week, and reported for duty at Camp Gordon on Sept. 5. He was employed in the Firestone office before his enlistment.

C. Reeser and Mrs. Viola Lusher. The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel, 2914 Dover Center Rd., Westlake, Ministerial services Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a. m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dover Masonic Lodge.

Hazel P. Lusher, 96, of Salem died Tuesday.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and had lived in Salem since 1980.
She married Howard Lusher in 1926 in Wilkenburg, Pa.; he died in 1961.
She enjoyed reading and sewing, and she was a member of the Dover Congregational Church in Westlake, Ohio. She had been active in the Order of Easten Star for more than 70 years.
Survivors include her son, Hugh G. Lusher of Northfield, Minn.; daughter, Marjorie A. Covey of Salem; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in City View Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE, Salem, 97301.

Date of marriage was given by Hazel. Family documents give Jan 26, 1925. (Compiler believes this date came from a notebook kept by Howard's sister, Viola.)
