He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and after completing his early educational training in the public schools, took up agricultural pursuits. He worked on the home farm some years, then purchased a farm of his own in his native county. This he subsequently sold, and purchased fifty acres in Butler County, where he spent the remainder of his life, dying at the age of sixty-nine years.
