General Notes: Husband - John Kuhns
He was the junior partner in the firm of Donohoe & Kuhns, his partner being Thomas Donohoe, and they conducted a mercantile business in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He also had extensive coal interests, and owned and operated a large section of fine farm land, but he devoted the greater portion of his time and attention to the grain business, the firm previously mentioned operating on a large scale, handling most of the grain shipped from that part of the state, as the grain was hauled in by wagon for miles around. This formed one of the most important industries of the community. He was actively associated with this line of work up to the time of his death.
He was one of the organizers of the Agricultural Fair Association.
He was a staunch adherent of the Democratic party, probably the strongest man in his party in the county, but he never sought or held public office, being strictly a business man.
Mr. Kuhns was a gentleman of the old school, of polished manners, a pleasing and forceful speaker, social and companionable, and a prime favorite among the younger element.
He and his wife were members of the Lutheran church, and like his father, Mr. Kuhns was a strong pillar of that institution.
