He was born in Staffordshire, England, and came to America in 1860, settling in Neshannock, where he conducted a general store before he went to Jackson Centre, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. After the death of his wife, in October, 1896, he visited England, and while there met his death under very mysterious circumstances.
