He was murdered by his common-law wife June Keefer; she stabbed him to death at a hotel.

Wednesday, July 118, 1955, Ransome Burton Prindle, aged 37 years, of 155 1/2 East 18th Street. Son of Mrs. Asenath Prindle and the late Winnie C. Prindle. Brother of Mrs. Leo Stankovick; Mrs. Lawrence Karkowsky, Mrs. Howard Ames, Kenneth, Arthur, Carl, Glenn and Allen Prindle. Father of Ransome, Jr., Stanley, Dale, Lawrence, Danny and Gwendolyn. Regarding her first child, the story that she told family members many years later was that she got pregnant in a field (perhaps frolicking as teens are wont do?). Once she found out she was pregnant she was so ashamed she left home. She was never married to the man.

Regarding the second gentleman, Mr. Prindle. They were in a relationship for 12 years or more, but he was physically abusive to her and they separated. She moved several times during a four month period to get away from him. But at an apartment where she was living, 312 Peach Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, an argument ensued over a picture of their oldest son, Ransome. He charged at her and she grabbed a knife and stabbed him, resulting in his death. She was put on trial and was let off because it was self defense. She got her sons back and left Erie, since the Prindles were after her.
