General Notes: Husband - G. G. Irwin

He was reared at the old family homestead in Lawrence township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, where he was born. The schools of that township afforded fair advantages, of which he availed himself during boyhood. He took a trip to Great Salt Lake in 1865, and after his return he engaged in agriculture, his farm of one hundred acres being devoted to general crops. Beginning in 1894 he began mining coal on the estate, employing eight men.
He was a stanch Republican in politics, and held the office of township treasurer.
