General Notes: Husband - Robert J. Arnold

In company with his brothers, William T. Arnold and Edward H. Arnold, he migrated to America in 1848. He was a tinner by trade, and at first located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he remained one year. He removed successively to Maysville, Armstrong County, remaining six years; Olivet, same county, eight years; Burnell township, same county, four years; also, farming, and a residence in Indiana County, where he settled in 1868, still working at his trade in connection with farming.

He was born in Devon, Devonshire, England, and there spent his boyhood. He learned the tinsmith and plumbing trades, which he followed largely through his active life. When twenty-one years of age he came to the United States.
He was the owner of a fine farm of two hundred acres near Clarksburg, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and spent his last years near Saltsburg, in the same county. He was an active member of the United Presbyterian church.

He had a box made to enclose guinea scales made by his great-great-grandfather. In this wire was used instead of nails. He had a trained dog which acted as the motive power of a churn, going to and fro at the word of command.
