General Notes: Husband - Claude C. Ritchey
On his first marriage license, he listed his parents as Thomas Ritchey & Rose (his grandparents?).
He started his baseball career in Emlenton, Pennsylvania, in 1890, and from there he played with Parkers' Landing and then Franklin. He went into organized baseball with Warren Iron & Oil League, then to Cincinnati in the majors in 1897, and Louisville 1898-1899. He went to Pittsburgh with Honus Wagner, Fred Clarke and others when Barney Dreyfuss merged the two clubs. "Little All Right" he was called by his teammates because of his ability to drive in needed runs, and he was part of the Pirates great double play threesome, Honus Wagner, himself and Kitty Bransfield. Claude was second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the halcyon days of Honus Wagner. They were a sensational group and won three National League pennants in a row 1901-1902-1903. Then in 1903 they played the Boston Red Sox in the first World Series; Boston winning five games and losing three to Pittsburgh. He left Pittsburgh in 1906 and played with the Boston Braves.
