General Notes: Husband - John Steele

---

He received his education in the common schools. All his active business life he was engaged in farming. He owned large tracts of land, two or three good farms of the best quality of soil, and managed them well. His father gave him a fair start in life, and he added largely to his patrimonial possessions. In the late 1850s he built a commodious residence and suitable outbuildings.
He and his family were members of the Little Redstone Presbyterian Church.
