General Notes: Husband - Joseph Edward Keck

He was educated in the Greensburg Seminary and later in the Indiana State Normal School at Indiana, Pennsylvania. Upon completing his studies in this institution, he entered his father's business in Greensburg, and from that time on devoted his life to its advancement. In 1910 Leonard Keck withdrew from the active management of the concern and from then on his two sons, Joseph Edward and Charles Warden, continued to operate it with the same extraordinary success. Since the retirement of the elder Mr. Keck, the business was conducted along much the same lines that he instituted during his management, but several important changes were made relative to floor space and the arrangement of their stock. They began to devote four floors to clothing and men's furnishings, shoes, etc. The third floor was given over to carpets. Each of these levels had ninety by thirty-five feet of floor space, from which some idea of the magnitude of the establishment may be had.
He and his family, like his father before him, were members of the Evangelical Lutheran church and attended the First Church of that denomination at Greensburg. They resided in a handsome home at No. 521 Alexander street, Greensburg.
