General Notes: Husband - Eli Ritz

He was born east of the mountains in Pennsylvania, coming to Clarion County with his parents while in his early youth. He grew up on his father's farm, and when of age became himself a farmer and owned a farm of one hundred and thirty acres in Richland township. He was a Democrat like his father, but never sought or held political office. He and his wife were both members of the Reformed church.

General Notes: Wife - Catherine Ashbaugh

She was a native of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, from which locality she came to Clarion County with her parents when a child.

Her parents died in Richland township where they lived many years after making their home in Clarion County. Mr. Ashbaugh, who was said to have been a soldier of the revolutionary war, became a prominent man in the county, and owned a great deal of the territory later covered by the town of St. Petersburg; being one of the earliest settlers in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Ashbaugh had a large family.
