He was reared in his native place and went to Chicago, where he spent about fifteen years, and then went to New York, where he resided for a like period. He followed the road as traveling salesman twenty-five years for the hardware trade. In the month of May, 1907, he established his residence in Mercer, Pennsylvania, where his wife was born and reared.
