General Notes: Husband - Highwell Dunlap Helmer


Civil War: he was a member of Company A, 85th Regiment, New York Volunteers, and was given his honorable discharge at Newberne, North Carolina, June 28, 1865.

He followed the trade of carpenter and was a justice of the peace. For many years he was a merchant and conducted a furniture and undertaking establishment in association with his partner, H. H. Garthwait, under the style of Helmer and Garthwait, at Port Allegany, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
