M. Wingard, Cranberry, Dies Friday
Merrill E. Wingard, 77, of Cranberry RD 1 died at 9:25 pm Friday in the Oil City Hospital.
Born in Jefferson County June 11,1897, he was the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Near Wingard.
Mr. Wingard was employed for many years in the Road Department of Cranberry Township, and was a member of the Fern Church of God.
He was preceded in death by four wives, the former Effie Heckathorn on August 31, 1960,
the former Jane Davis on June 28, 1965, the former Ruth. Johnson on May 6, 1967 and the former Vinberth Scheffler on November 30, 1972, along with one son, William, on August 18, 1969.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Meade (Betty) Johnston of Cranberry RD 1, along with four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home after 2 pm Sunday. The Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday and Monday. Funeral arrangements will be announced in The Derrick Monday.

EFFIE WINGARD
Mrs. Effie Hingard, 69, of Seneca, wife of Merrill Wingard, died at 7:45 PM Wednesday.
A lifelong resident of Seneca, Mrs. Wingard was born in Bredinsburg Nov. 10, 1890, a daughter of William S. and Laura Goucher Heckathorn. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Meade (Betty) Johnston of near Oil City; a son William Wingard, at home; 4 sisters: Mrs. Mae Miller of New Middletown, Ohio, Mrs. Maude Vincent of Ford City, Mrs. Ruth Lutz of New Castle and Mrs. Velma Miller of Seneca; a brother, Wayne Heckathorn of Seneca and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be in charge of the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home and will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday. Rev. F. LeRoy Sarver, pastor of the Good Hope Lutheran Church, will officiate. Internment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
