General Notes: Husband - George D. Hamor
For his education he attended the local public schools of Freeport, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he prepared for college, afterwards took a literary and scientific course at Mount Union College, Ohio, and later pursued his law studies in the office of L. Z. Mitchell, of Butler, Pennsylvania. He was admitted to the bar of Butler County, Pennsylvania, June 8, 1876, but later came to Westmoreland County and settled at New Kensington, where he built up a large and remunerative practice. While a resident of Dubois, Pennsylvania, he was elected to the office of burgess and was holding this office in the year 1888; he was a resident in the town of Dubois at the time of the great fire there.
He was a member of Lodge No. 512, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. In politics he was a member of the Republican party, but was not a politician, avoiding rather than seeking public office of any kind. He was not affiliated with any church, describing his belief as that of a Monoist\emdash a believer in a One God, not a Triune God.
