General Notes: Husband - James Anderson

He was a linen weaver, and prospered in his trade. In America he became the owner of a good farm of some two hundred acres, which he cultivated successfully, and some time later erected a linen mill about two miles from his home, an enterprise in which he also met with success.

Notes: Marriage

He was thirty-four years of age when he fell in love with Miss McCaslan, then a mere girl of seventeen. She was the daughter of well-to-do parents who frowned upon the suit of Anderson, at that time a linen weaver, and forbade their union. The lovers were as determined as the parents, however, and they eloped, were married, and shortly after set sail for the United States.
